Anticipating Fall: And HRTech

The onset of autumn used to mean all the excitement of a new year of school – new clothes, crayons, backpacks and lunchboxes. Later in my professional life, it was the time to welcome in new freshman classes, attempting to reassure parents that their offspring were going to survive the first term of their college experience.

Part of this excitement was the fun of facing the unknown, seeing something new and different.   Part was the delight in seeing old friends and meeting friends for the future.

And today? It’s HRTech, the yearly conference focusing on technology in the world of human capital management that provides that excitement for me and my colleagues interested in HCM. It is a conference I have long attended as a market analyst and now in its sixteenth year, it presents the opportunity to reconnect with friends, meet new acquaintances and see the newest innovations in HR and talent management technology.

Beyond that, however, are the real learning opportunities. HR professionals look forward to hearing their peers and industry specialists talk about the topics that most impact their daily work lives. Attendees can hear Josh talk about his passion “Big Data and Analytics” on Monday, October 7th at 11:00 and hear Josh and David Mallon (Deloitte Consulting LLP) discuss “MOOCs, Mobile and the LMS: Learning Systems Strategies in 2013” on Tuesday the 8th from 4:00-5:15.

This years’ event at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay is from October 7-9th.  You won’t need new clothes or lunchboxes—but you may want a backpack for all the show material you will gather – and maybe even those new crayons.
