Photo of the Week – London Skyscraper Melts Car

Glass from the windows in a London skyscraper generate sufficient heat to warp cars.

A building under construction at 20 Fenchurch Street in London is already leaving an impression on its surroundings, but not in the manner developers intended.

Jaguar owner Martin Lindsay parked his car on a nearby street, only to return to find it warped -- melted, in fact, from the reflection coming off the glass of the 37-story building, nicknamed the "Walkie Talkie" because of its distinctive design.

Developers Canary Wharf Construction and Land Securities are compensating Lindsay for the damage, blamed on the elevation of the sun in the sky, as reflected off the building. Three on-street parking spots have been removed from service while they look for a solution.
